1. Some of you have asked what I have decided about getting a coach (read more here.) I have decided to train for St. George on my own and see what kind of results I get. If I don’t see any improvements- coach it is!!
2. As far as training goes, I’m trying to stick to paces listed here.
3. I’ve started Kayla Itsines Bikini Body Guide. Don’t think I’ll end up with a bikini body, but I know I’m getting stronger. I love it so much. The workouts are simple, short, and effective. I am sore after each workout. When it comes to workouts and recipes, if it looks too complicated, I won’t even attempt it.
4. I just finished Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins. I was entertained the whole time. What should I read next?
5. I have discovered the BEST new music app. It’s called Songza. I swear it was created by a woman in her 30s. The music is awesome. You need to try it!
6. Remember my favorite thing to wear ever after a run? They make the House Dress for littles now! So exciting and so darling. Check it out here.
7. My favorite half-marathon EVER is in exactly one month. It will be my third year. Best course, best shopping, best weather, best entertainment, best post-race party. Cannot wait!! Vancouver here I come.
8. I found out that the Boston Marathon registration date for my qualifying time is September 21st. It’s a very loooooonnnnggggg shot that I get in because I only qualified by 43 seconds, but you better believe I am gonna try!
9. I’m really loving this blog post about how all of the little things in training are just as vital as running. I have learned that I definitely need to be more well-rounded and I need to be better at the “little things.” I’m a work in progress for sure.
10. Have you heard about Iron Cowboy James yet? He is completing 50 ironman races in 50 states in 50 days. Insane!! He has already completed 40, with only ten to go. He eats 10,000 calories a day (I could do that actually.) I am loving following his journey via Instagram. So inspiring.
What have you guys been thinking about lately?
More importantly, what is everyone training for???

Happy Running!!!
I was just wondering this morning what you had decided on training. I am also going to Seawheeze! It is my first and probably only time to go though and the girl who was/is supposed to go with me has bailed on me. So are there any tips/advice you could offer me? I am flying in on Thursday and out on Sunday evening. I am staying downtown so I can walk to the race and events. Any suggestions for must-sees, places to eat, transportation, etc? Thanks so much!
Currently training for my first ever trail run which happens to be a 15K and then hoping I can train well enough for my first half marathon in December – Rock N Roll in my hometown of San Antonio!
I'm training for the full!! I do the half every year and I've done the full once. Love San Antonio
I’ve been thinking about how we dropped the ball in getting together to do something fun when you guys were in Utah. I should have done more to get everyone together.
I have been in the same predicament with a coach. A few years back I did hire a coach that I worked with for over a year. Coaches see your life differently. My coach could see my weakness and prescribe training, rest and diet that I wouldn’t have otherwise thought was important. The biggest change for me was not being able to do what I wanted. To make the coaching experience work you have to have total faith in the program. I love my coach and I loved sharing in accomplishing goals. We have parted ways, but it was a worthwhile learning experience.
I’m training for LOTOJA (Logan, UT —> Jackson, WY) bike race. It’s a long day in the saddle (206 miles / 9 hours) and should be a good test of both my mental and physical abilities. I have high hopes of being on the podium. I’m also looking at the long term goal of racing in the Cycle to the Sun (Maui, HI) on June 25, 2016. The race starts in Pa’ia and finishes on the top of the Haleakala Volcano — that’s 36 miles and 10,023 feet of vertical climbing. Having a big event in June will make me focus and work smart throughout winter.
Your passion for improvement is contagious and completely transferable to the world of cycling. Thanks for sharing!
I am loving your blog sooo much!!! I am training for my second full marathon in December. I purchased one of your training plans. Right now it's easy to get my long runs in because it's summer and I'm off (I'm a teacher). It's going to get harder when school starts again
