Monday Motivation

August 31, 2015

A couple readers-turned-friends introduced me to this video.  It pretty much encompasses everything I feel and believe about what running in the early morning can do for you.

Putting one foot in front of the other will take you so many places- literally and figuratively speaking.  I say this from firsthand experience.

Get up and get going and you might be surprised where you end up.

XO

Getting Focused

July 14, 2015

When it comes to running, I have never had a year like this one.  This year I am set to run 6 marathons, which I have never done before (Los Angeles in March, Utah Valley in June, Rio in July, St. George in October, NYC in November, and Las Vegas in November.) Most importantly, what I have never done before is running a marathon every 2-3 months.  I usually space a couple marathons a few weeks apart, then take a couple months off, then begin the 4 month long training for another one or two.

I tell you this because I am expecting things of myself that I haven’t before, and with that can come new challenges and lots of learning.

I’m learning to stay focused and take things one day at a time.  I’m learning to listen to my body.  I’m learning to prioritize which races will be for fun (most of them) and which ones I will give my all (mainly St. George.)

I’m really hoping that after my not very good performance at Utah Valley, that Rio in a couple weeks will give me a sense of renewal.

My continent marathons are always my favorite.  I put zero pressure on myself for time and I spend the entire course looking around and taking it all in.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: there is no better way to see a city than on foot.

It’s hard to believe that soon I will be more than halfway done with taking a 26.2 mile running tour of each continent.  It’s been so much fun.

Treadmill Time!

June 30, 2015

It’s HOT.

That means: lots more treadmill time.

Even in the early morning hours, the temperatures in Arizona can be in the 90s.  Yikes.  Sometimes it just seems more bearable to watch Netflix on my ‘mill with the rocket fan blowing in my face.  Here’s a video with some tips and rules….

Enjoy!
